Hi All. I've noticed recently a trend for some of the spamming morons to have their Caller ID show additional words with their alleged/fictitious number. For example, whilst the trueCall log shows "017643348439 INTERNATIONAL", my phone display showed "Unavailable 017643348439".
    Similarly:
trueCall Log: 01624900756 INTERNATIONAL My Phone Display: Unavailable 01624900756
trueCall Log: 013839773347 INTERNATIONAL My Phone Display: Unavailable 013839773347
trueCall Log: 079374243435 INTERNATIONAL My Phone Display: Unavailable 079374243435

    ...and so on.
    Has anyone else noticed this?
Is it some kind of ploy to circumvent trueCall or other filtering systems?

Not new at all - take a look through the existing topics in this section of the forum.

The calls are probably incoming from abroad, hence have flags which the trueCall can detect and report as INTERNATIONAL, but spoof the CLI and that's what the phone displays (and is recorded). Yes, no doubt they are designed to make you think they come from somewhere in the UK - but the trueCall can deal with them (if you don't mind blacklisting all international calls).
